Frequently Asked Questions

Healthy individuals aged 18-65 years, weighing at least 50 kg, with hemoglobin levels above 12.5 g/dL can donate blood. Donors should be free from infectious diseases and should not have donated blood in the last 3 months. A brief health screening is conducted before each donation.

All donated blood undergoes mandatory testing for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, and Malaria. Blood grouping and antibody screening are also performed. Only blood that passes all safety tests is used for transfusion.

Blood components (packed red cells, platelets, plasma, cryoprecipitate) allow targeted treatment based on specific patient needs. This approach is more effective, reduces transfusion reactions, and allows multiple patients to benefit from a single donation. Component therapy is now the standard of care in modern transfusion medicine.
